1943 – 1952
The ending of wartime hostilities in 1945 was met with intense celebration at Newington College. Special services and festivals were held at the College and the general morale at Stanmore improved immensely. A year later, the school mourned the passing of former Headmaster Rev Dr CJ Prescott, whose legacy at Newington continues to this day. Also felt by the College was resignation of Headmaster Le Couteur in 1948 – his departure truly meant the end of an era at Newington.
