1933 – 1942


Amidst the ominous foreboding of impending World War for the second time, the 1930s are remember for initiatives such as Bow Tie Day which became an institution at Newington. Not unlike our modern day Year 12 Farewell House Competition Day, on the final school day Sixth Form students developed a tradition of dressing in imitation of Phiz Cortis Jones and Ben Jarvie (whom the staff common room is named in honour of).
